Durham and his wife Jennie created the Knight of Illumination Awards for lighting design in 2008 with the support of Enrico Caironi and Pasquale Quadri and subsequently Pio Nahum of Clay Paky. Like many things in our industry Covid-19 put paid to that.

This time, with the support of our headline sponsor Ayrton and once again in association with the ALPD and the STLD and the kind support of our fantastic sponsors, Durham and Jennie are delighted to bring a recognition of lighting design excellence back to the fields of Theatre and Television in the UK with The Profile Awards.

Durham Marenghi has designed the lighting for a wide variety of Theatre, Opera, Dance, Trade, Concert and Television productions and in the field of the Greatest Shows on Earth lit the Winter Olympics Opening and Closing Ceremonies in Turin 2006, the London 2012 Handover Ceremony at the Olympic Games in Beijing 2008, the Sochi 2014 Winter Paralympic Opening and Closing Ceremonies and the Rio Summer Olympic Ceremonies in 2016.

Jennie Marenghi started her career as a professional dancer and since the Winter Olympics in 2006 has been fundamental to the success of the lighting design work of DurhamLD Ltd, Jennie is also an accomplished photographer and has captured many of the most memorable images of our work, most notably the Diamond Jubilee Concert, in April 2024 Durham and Jennie celebrated their 40^th wedding anniversary; one of the longest lasting double acts in our industry!
